Tech Oversight California today applauded the signing of AB 325, a critical bill to address A.I.-driven algorithmic price collusion that the organization has supported throughout this year’s session, and called on Gov. Newsom to now sign AB 1064, the LEAD for Kids Act, into law:
“California just took a decisive step to counter the accelerating use of A.I. and advanced tech tools to rip off consumers by banning algorithmic price fixing. We applaud Majority Leader Aguiar-Curry for her leadership to prevent digital collusion, protect online shoppers from artificially inflated prices, and safeguard fair competition for small businesses. We hope now Gov. Newsom will tackle one of the biggest threats unregulated AI poses to Californians by signing AB 1064, the LEAD for Kids Act, into law so that young people aren’t harmed or exploited by emerging chatbot technology,” said Tech Oversight California executive director Sacha Haworth.
