California’s Big Tech Accountability Agenda Clears Key Legislative Hurdle

June 2, 2026

Tech Oversight California today issued a statement on the bills it is prioritizing as California’s legislature moves into critical second house hearings:

“California lawmakers are showing again this session that Sacramento is serious about reining in Big Tech on behalf of small businesses, working people, kids and families. A slate of important legislation just passed the critical midway point, addressing critical priorities from competition and workers’ rights to kids’ safety and data center accountability. As these bills move to second house hearings, we will keep playing a watchdog role, tracking the big-money lobbying campaigns aimed at watering down or killing these bills, and making sure lawmakers know communities across California are watching,” said Tech Oversight California Executive Director Sacha Haworth.
